William Damon, the author of “The path to Purpose” says “Purpose is the number one, long-term motivator in life. Today 80% of high school kids can be categorized as not having any purpose; they are comprising of students motivated but lacking a plan, being active but lacking direction, and being neither active nor forward-thinking.” A person without a purpose is like a ship sailing without knowing its direction.
Parents can help children to find out their calling. How to do this? By having a gentle conversation. But then what to ask the kid? You can start with questions such as what do they care more? What is the most important thing for them? etc.
To make the conversation easier, we thought of sharing you a documentary that shows the life of a chef who found his purpose. It describes 80-year-old sushi chef making life interesting for himself and others through love for food, cooking, and an idea of improving one’s work every day. This documentary is good for watching with your child and having a conversation with your child about purpose in life.
